On Thursday, British politicians from all political parties expressed their grief over the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, which put an end to the nation's typically turbulent politics.

Ten days of national mourning will be observed following the queen's passing at age 96, with a state burial for the monarch to follow.

While crucial governmental operations will continue, much of the usual political activity will be suspended. Parliamentary work will be replaced by two days of House legislators paying tribute.

The country was "devastated" by the monarch's death on Thursday, according to the incoming prime minister Liz Truss, who received the news approximately 90 minutes before it was made public. She referred to the monarch as "the rock on which modern Britain was founded."

Outside her London home at 10 Downing Street, Truss declared, "We are today a modern, prosperous, dynamic nation." "Through good times and bad, Queen Elizabeth II gave us the security and fortitude we required.

Truss declared, "She was the very spirit of Great Britain, and that spirit will endure.

She concluded her speech with the phrase "God save the king," which has not been uttered by a British politician in 70 years.

Truss was chosen by the queen to serve at Balmoral Castle barely 48 hours prior becoming the 15th prime minister to hold office during Elizabeth's reign in Scotland. After 70 years on the monarchy, the queen passed away on Thursday afternoon at Balmoral.

The National Flag flag atop the party leader home was lowered to half-staff after the monarch’s death was announced.

"This is our country's saddest day," remarked Boris Johnson, Truss' predecessor.

The only king that the majority of Britons have ever known leaving away, he said, will cause "a deep and personal sense of grief - far more intense, maybe, than we expected."

King Charles III, who is 73 years old, would "amply do honour to her legacy," according to Johnson.

Keir Starmer, leader of the opposition Labour Party, also paid tribute to a constitutional monarch who, in his words, was "above the battles of politics."

“She stood not regarding what the country agreed upon, not what it battled over. This dedication turned into the still point of our turning globe while Britain changed quickly around her, he added. We will preserve the values of public service that the late queen exemplified in order to respect her legacy as the glorious Elizabethan era comes to an end.
