NEWS UPDATES: BUFFALO'S NY COMMUNITY REACTION AFTER SHOOTING IN BUFFALO NEW YORK

BUFFALO, New York: Authorities said a shooter wearing bullet proof vests and a streaming live camera murdered 10 people were wounded three more in a hate-fueled shooting rampage at a popular supermarket on Sunday, prompting vigils, prayer on funeral and marches against this across the city.

According to Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia, 11 of the 13 persons shot Saturday at the Tops Friendly Markets were black. The culprit, who was apprehended on the spot, is white. The shooting is being investigated as a hate and racially motivated against extremism by the FBI.

Payton Gendron, 18, was charged with murder, and officials said more charges would be considered in the coming days.

At a press conference on Sunday, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said, "This individual came here with the sole purpose of taking as many Black lives as he could."


According to a law enforcement official, Gendron threatened attempt at his high school last year, prompting a request for a mental health evaluation. State authorities investigated the situation at the time. The suspect's parents were collaborating with authorities, according to the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly.
